Jesus knew the Scripture fulfilled,
Foretelling things so true;
He read the acts of those who killed,
And knew what they would do.

Low he heard the soldiers gamble,
For garments that he wore;
Like the butchers at the shamble,
Like gluttons mid the gore.

He knew the Scriptures that he read,
About the Lamb who died;
That was the measure of that tread,
Who took it for his guide.
